Planet ME/CFSThis is a painting to express life with ME/CFS.... and to portray the hopes we cling to.The bars of the cage have the symptoms written on them. The "graveyard" on the far right has favorite activities we can no longer do written on each headstone. Our "world" was shattered, and the pieces floating to the foreground represent what was lost to illness. Life rushes past us, but we are isolated, on another planet - that the rest of the world can't understand. The balloon is tethered to the hefty weight of ME/CFS that is holding us down and keeping us caged. If only the hopes/needs represented on the balloon would come to fruition, perhaps we can be freed at last. The flame raising the balloon is the advocacy that is building to help us in the fight to be recognized.The prayer flags attached to the rope list some of the phenomenal attributes that help us survive..... inner strength, resilience, determination, stoicism, and patience. This painting represents things people don't know the depth of unless they've lived it themselves....
